Silencing Joe Rogan

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

This post will be different from my normally dating advice. Now why would a dating blogger talk about Joe Rogan? The slippery slop of silencing. This is a topic every blogger, You tuber, and anyone who posts online should be talking about. So let's discuss how dangerous this can become not only for him but also for everyone else online.

Joe Rogan is an American Podcaster, Ultimate Fighting Championship commentator, comedian, actor and more. He's podcast is being criticized over racial slurs that were used. This is not just online but CNN seems to have jumped on the bandwagon to further the fire. Why would a news channel suddenly jump on board with not one, not two, not three, but multiple different articles and even on live attacking him verbally?https://www.cnn.com/search?q=joe+rogan

Well it could be because trump is no longer bringing in the viewers they want for them so they need to find a new person to try to boost numbers. Who knows. So why is this dangerous? They will disagree and say that there are acceptable behaviors. Okay, I can understand that. So why do they have an issue with what Joe Rogan says on Covid?

They don't agree. It's that simple. In fact any time someone does not agree with certain media, tech companies or the left and insults fly. Saying that the opposite opinion is "reversing the progress" America has made since WW11. My history may be incorrect as the history books constantly change but the Nazis silenced anyone who had a different opinion. Joe Rogan is not silencing anyone. In fact is is only saying his own opinions. The people trying to silence him are the ones we should be concerned about.

Why? Ignorance is penalized. Ignorance is not an excuse. Does someone who doesn't know the law get a free pass? No. Information is the best defense we as a people have. By silencing other opinions, you will lead down a road where there will be less and less opinions to hear from. This creates a population that is easy to control. If you are afraid to speak out because of backlash or worse, then who ever is doing the silencing is controlling your actions. A good example of this is the book Fahrenheit 451.

This book is about a society where firemen burn books of literature, and views that are not approved by those in power. The main character's job is to censor literature and destroy knowledge. He eventually quits his job and works to preserve books instead. He wants to read them to see if the books can help save society. During the book he hides the books and when he shows his wife she tries to run it to the incinerator before anyone sees showing the level of fear and control.

This may sound ridiculous to you. "No one is afraid to have a book in our society." Yet isn't this what "silencing" or "canceling" is doing? People afraid to speak their minds? Youtubers having to spell out words because YouTube could demonetize the video or take it down? Facebook removing posts because of what they said politically? They already have a lot more control than many realize. Is this really a fair society if measures need to be taken to appease one side? When will the line be drawn? And how soon till it is redrawn closer to less freedom?

"I don't have to worry because I agree with the majority of the media."

Then have a look at the feminist movement. Many have separated from the movement because homemakers are not allowed to march. Some call for it to be illegal to be a stay at home mom. Yikes. Trying to make it illegal to watch over your kids instead or working? Will you actually support taking away a couples' choice on raising their children just because the majority do? What happens when there is something you don't agree with, even if it is only one part of the main mission or goals of an organization backed by the media? Will you be next?

This is written as a warning to all those who are a part of social media. One day your views will not align with the media. Then you too will be faced with the tough reality of choosing to be quiet or standing up. So lets stand up together now before it's too late. If you don't agree with someone, then don't watch, or listen to them. Don't call for canceling. This is a slippery road that can not be reversed easily.
