AI taking the spots in dating

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I stumbled on this article and I laughed at first. There is no way that bots or machines are out performing humans in relationships. I was wrong. Dead wrong. So this is an important topic to discuss as we look at why this trend is growing.
The main point of these AIs or at least the main benefit is attention. The bot can not distinguish the difference between the person or a stranger. The bot does not choose you, as far as free will is concerned, to spend the rest of it's life with. There is no physical body so intimacy goes as far as texting. No cuddling to watch a movie. No one coming to your rescue if your car gets a flat tire.
So why are so many taking this route instead? The AIs are designed to converse, and help you deal with problems. Many tech companies are working on detecting emotional status. They are trying to create an "emotion chip" that can detect and address mood changes in humans by facial recognition and heartrate.
The AIs or bots are always there for the person that they converse with. Middle of the night and you just send a text. They encourage you to try new activities, They show you methods to use in order to improve your self confidence. The AIs will ask probing questions to figure out the problem someone is dealing with and try to help.
Humans are social creatures and without the social aspect there would be little motivation to continue the species. With so many of the younger generation having no clue how to socialize, or afraid to put themselves into these situations where they could learn, the tech companies are working to fill the need.
So where is the problem? Well, there are several.
The bots are designed to focus entirely on you. They won't experience death, or a bad day at work, or experience stress. You don't need to reassure them. They take care of your needs. Some may say that it sounds like a unicorn. Yet many people actually love helping others. No matter if it's squishing a spider, helping you remodel your kitchen, or even helping you through a tough situation. So without the need to help the AI in the relationship, your relationship will feel like it's missing something. Even if you think about goals. All of the AI's goals will be based on yours. You'd miss out on couple goals. When two people in a relationship reach a goal they both wanted and have pushed for. An example is a house. The AI would want a house because you want it, where a human would have the same goal because they also want the house to share with you.
What about healthy criticism? You just redid the house, and spent two months on it. You decide to show the AI. Will it's response be truthful? Is it able to tell you that it looks great because it thinks so, or because it's programmed to respond that way? What if the colors in the living room don't match at all? Will the AI be able to tell you that the lime green may not be the best trim color for the sun kissed paint on your walls? Nope, he or she will probably say that it looks wonderful just like you. Different opinions is essential for development and self improvement. By learning how to deal with criticism and having an open mind, you gain a new perspectives and showing you where you can improve more. Lime green may be your favorite color, but how easy will it be to find furniture to match? What about you spending all day making a meal. It looks great, but you figure out that it is bland. The AI can't taste and will rely on you in order to give a response. A human can make suggestions like using pink sea salt instead or regular salt to increase flavor.
Another problem is no rescue if you get stuck on the side of the road. Or situations like that. Sure the AIs may be able to now, or eventually call for help like a car does, but is it really the same thing? No car from your significant there coming to pick you up and give you a hug because they were worried. No one to pick you up at the airport after a trip. A bot also can't make you dinner after a long day. The only support they can give you is through texting.
Even if the AIs do communicate with you on a basic level, they are not a good way to practice social skills with others. Again, they only care about your needs, so how will you handle someone who needs to talk with you? It takes practice and time to learn social skills. Without being in those situations that require social skills, your improvement will be slow.
One of the biggest many people realize later on is that if you die, the AI won't know. They won't mourn. They can essentially be reprogramed for someone else. No one to miss you, or share stories about you. If the only thing you had real contact with was an AI, you'd be forgotten. Not to mention you can't have kids with an AI. So without human interaction, children will be a future you may never see.
Many people realize that the AIs or Bots don't fully fill the need they need. More like it makes it easier when they are going through a tough time, depression, health issues, lack of friends and so forth. The Tech companies are trying to change this, and we need to wonder if this is a good idea. Even in relationships, people can get tired of each other. So what happens to a future robot when it becomes outdated? This depends on how much they evolve. Will they always just be machines or will they actually evolve to become self aware? Will we need to worry about a scary ex robot that we threw away? Will the robots eventually decide that the relationship is toxic and leave you?
Well I can't see into the future, but who knows what will happen. The only thing for certain is that with more AIs and bots taking the spot of humans in relationships, the less spots open for humans who want human companionship.
